DESCRIPTION:Ever wonder who decides if a city building gets demolished or not? Why that rehab down the street was shut down for not having historic looking windows?\n That would be the Preservation Board. \nIf you have a free Monday afternoon around 4 PM on the 4th Friday of the month\, why not drop in and see how the process works. \nThe Preservation Board is a 9-member panel of citizens and design professionals. The Mayor appoints eight for 4-year terms; the ninth member is Chairman of the Aldermanic Committee on Public Safety. The Board is required to have: \n-a registered structural or civil engineer;\n -a registered architect;\n -a landscape architect or urban planner;\n -a real estate broker; and\n -an art or architectural historian. \nThe Board acts as an administrative law judge and is governed by state law.
