DESCRIPTION:Strange Folk Festival is back for its 11th year! They will be hosting over 200 makers and artists from 14 states and annual 30\,000 attendees in one of Saint Louis’ most gorgeous historic neighborhoods: Lafayette Square. The rich architectural heritage is a perfect backdrop for Strange Folk Festival’s signature installation art. “Belle Epoque\,” a new theme twist added this year\, is an homage to the wealth of beauty and style that was France in the early 20th century. To aid in creating an temporarily ornate atmosphere\, we are utilizing a large-format laser cutter\, among other digital fabrication machines\, in-house at their workshop on Cherokee St. \n \nNouveau France will see it’s colony come to life again as the neighborhood is filled with energy and creativity. Walk the streets and shop “Etsy in person” while live music\, soundscapes\, and mix-tapes fill the air.  \nThey’ve handpicked some of St. Louis’s best local indie pop\, folk\, and roots bands for everyone to enjoy for free! Saturday’s line up includes Ellen the Felon\, Letter to Memphis\, Whoa Thunder\, and Super Fun Yeah Yeah Rocketship. On Sunday they have Androbeat\, The Good Deeds\, The Defeated Country\, and Cave of Swords. \nThe entire festival will include themed areas of decoration and interaction under the creative direction of founder\, Autumn Wiggins. A corner of Lafayette Park is being converted into a whimsical techie-playground. Start off at Feathertop\, a boho camping enclave near the entrance gate to the park\, and travel down Myrkwood path where you’ll find lots of surprises\, including new Curious Cabinets by Kristin Cassidy.  \nOther exhibits include a photo booth with live birds as the backdrop and a pop-up museum with period-specific ephemera centering around the inhabitants of a house in Lafayette Square. 3D printer demonstrations by Squirefruit Labs and our crowd-favorite hands-on activities round out the weekend.  \nFood and drinks will be served by over 20 local restaurants and food trucks. From tasty treats to full meals. They’ll have everything from ice cream\, baked goods\, BBQ\, vegetarian\, and even treats for dogs. \n

A true St. Louis holiday tradition\, our home tour is a unique annual event showcasing one of the largest collections of Victorian homes in the nation. \n\n\nTOUR DETAILS \nThe tour begins at the Park House\, located at the corner of Mississippi and Lafayette Avenues. Pick up your tickets and tour book there. \nAmenities include complimentary carriage rides\, a trolley between tour homes\, live music\, strolling carolers\, and Santa. Neighborhood shops and restaurants will be open\, with many offering treats and discounts. \nThe tour is conducted as a self-guided\, open house format: attendees are welcome to visit homes in any order at any time during tour hours. If you’d like to see all of the tour homes\, please allow at least three hours. Our Holiday Parlor Tour features only the first floor of each home. All homes have several stairs leading to the entrance; we regret that we are not wheelchair accessible. A free trolley will be running in a loop around the neighborhood to save you a few extra steps between homes. \nRefreshments will be available at the newly renovated Kern Pavilion (formerly known as “the Boathouse”) in Lafayette Park\, as well as in neighborhood establishments. \n\nTICKETS \n2016 Holiday Parlor Tour Tickets – $20 each \n\n\nTickets cost $20 in Advance\, $25 Day of the Tour\, and children under 12 are Free. In 2018\, Romeo & Juliet returns to Shakespeare Glen for the first time since their inaugural season. \nThe Green Show is traditionally a prelude to an evening’s main performance and serves as a means of preparing the audience for that night’s offerings. At Shakespeare Festival St. Louis\, our 90-minute Green Show includes featured local musical acts\, jugglers\, a family craft area\, and more \nSummary: In Verona\, Sampson and Gregory (Capulet servants) complain that they will not put up with insults from the Montague family. Abram and Balthasar (Montague servants) appear and the four start quarreling. Benvolio (Lord Montague’s nephew) appears and tries to break up the quarrel\, but Tybalt (Lady Capulet’s nephew) appears and picks a fight with Benvolio. At length\, officers try to break up the fight\, even while Lord Capulet and Lord Montague begin to fight one another. The Prince of Verona (Escalus) appears and stops the fighting\, proclaiming sentences of death to any that renew the fighting.
