Another New Addition to Downtown: SLU Law School

St. Louis Real Estate

Great news for Downtown St. Louis. It was announced on Tuesday that St. Louis University Law School will be moving downtown in August. This transfer to the heart of downtown will include more than 1,100 students, faculty and staff and is a clear sign of SLU’s active participation in revitalizing the city.

The new addition to SLU developed from the generous donation of the property located at 100 N. Tucker Boulevard. The owner, Joe H. Scott Sr. of Scott Properties and his wife, donated the building after it recently became vacant. This is not the first donation of land from the Scotts. Back in 2004, they donated the building located at 910 N. 11th Street to the United Way of Greater St. Louis, which now serves as the organization’s main office. The new Law School will be named in their honor (The Joe and Loretta Scott Law Center).

The building itself contains 11 stories with 260,000 total square feet. While I have not had a chance to see the interior. A commercial realtor friend who has toured the inside stated the building was in great condition. As updated in the St. Louis Post, all 11 floors will be used by the law school. According to SLU’s website, Lawrence Group Architects are in charge of redesigning the building and Clayco Inc. will be in charge of construction.

This move is more than an investment in downtown St. Louis. Law students will now be within the epicenter of St. Louis legal activity. Not only will the new Law School be within  walking distance if the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse, it will also be surrounded by some of the region’s most dominant law firms.
